Warehouse management software (WMS)

Warehouse management software, or a warehouse management system (WMS), reduces picking errors, speeds up receiving and dispatch and gives you accurate stock levels in real time. Managing a warehouse manually in Excel files leads to discrepancies, lost customers and inefficient use of warehouse space.

social.tech develops custom WMS systems that run on any Android/iOS device with a barcode/QR scanner. The system is tailored to your warehouse layout (zones, shelves, bins), your processes (FIFO, FEFO, LIFO) and the specifics of your goods (batches, expiry dates, serial numbers).

We integrate the WMS with your ERP, accounting, e-commerce platforms (Shopify, WooCommerce, Magento) and courier services (Omniva, DPD, Venipak) — an order from the online shop automatically appears in the warehouse for picking, and the shipping label is printed with one click.

What is warehouse management software (WMS)?

Warehouse management software (WMS) is a warehouse management system that records every movement of goods — receiving, put-away, picking and dispatch — and shows accurate stock levels in real time. A WMS is needed when the warehouse is managed in Excel files and this leads to discrepancies, lost customers and inefficient use of space. social.tech tailors the WMS to your warehouse zones, shelves and bins, your processes (FIFO, FEFO, LIFO) and your goods (batches, expiry dates, serial numbers). An MVP of a WMS is rolled out in 2–3 months and starts from ~15,000 EUR. In the HWI production and warehouse system, social.tech implemented raw material intake with weighing, pallet tracking, dispatch and Zebra labels. A WMS includes:

  • barcode/QR scanning with an Android/iOS device or a scanner;
  • picking along the shortest route and batch picking;
  • cycle counting without stopping work;
  • integration with the ERP, the online shop and couriers.
What you get

What does a company get from a WMS?

A WMS records every movement of goods immediately, so the online shop no longer sells an item that is not in the warehouse. Goods are scanned, not written down by hand. The WMS generates the shortest picking route, controls batches and expiry dates and allows stocktaking zone by zone without stopping the whole warehouse.

Excel vs WMS
Feature Excel WMS
Recording goods Data is written down by hand Goods are scanned (barcode/QR) with a phone or a professional scanner
Stock levels Manual management leads to discrepancies Every movement is recorded immediately; real-time stock levels
Online shop synchronisation The online shop may sell an item that is no longer in the warehouse Automatic synchronisation with Shopify, WooCommerce, Magento
Warehouse space Inefficient use of warehouse space The system is tailored to the warehouse layout: zones, shelves, bins

Barcode / QR scanning

Receiving incoming goods, picking and stocktaking with a phone or a professional scanner — goods are scanned, not written down by hand.

Real-time stock levels

Every movement is recorded immediately. No more situations where the online shop sells an item that is no longer in the warehouse.

Picking optimisation

The system generates the shortest route through the warehouse and combines orders into batch picking.

Batch and expiry date control

FEFO strategy for the food and pharmaceutical industries, serial numbers for electronics. Automatic alerts about approaching expiry dates.

E-commerce and courier integrations

Automatic synchronisation with Shopify, WooCommerce, Magento and Omniva, DPD, Venipak, Latvijas Pasts. One-click label printing.

Stocktaking without stopping work

Cycle counting — small zones every day, without stopping the whole warehouse. Automatic discrepancy reports for the manager.

How we work

What are the 4 steps of WMS implementation?

WMS implementation takes four steps. Analysis: a free consultation, a review of your processes, a technical specification and a fixed budget. Development: iterative sprints with visible progress. Rollout: data migration, integrations, training and a gradual launch from one zone or process. Support: maintenance under an SLA with a response time of up to 4 hours on a working day.

01 / 04

Analysis

We start with a free consultation and study your business processes, goals and user needs. The result is a clear technical specification, a list of features and a fixed budget.

02 / 04

Development

AI-accelerated development in iterative sprints. You see the progress at every stage and can give feedback. The code is yours, with no vendor lock-in.

03 / 04

Rollout

We migrate the data, integrate with your existing systems, train the team and run user testing. The launch is gradual, so day-to-day work is not disrupted.

04 / 04

Support and SLA

After the launch we provide maintenance, security updates and feature development under an SLA. Response time — up to 4 hours on a working day.

Price

How much does warehouse management software cost?

A WMS MVP with the core features (receiving, picking, stock levels) starts from ~15,000 EUR. A full system with e-commerce and courier integrations — from ~30,000 EUR. social.tech prepares an exact estimate after a warehouse audit. LIAA digitalisation support can cover up to 50% of the cost, including hardware.

We help you apply for the LIAA digitalisation support grant — EU co-funding can cover up to 50% of the project cost.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

An MVP takes 2–3 months; a full system with all integrations takes 4–6 months. We roll it out gradually, starting with one zone or process, so that warehouse work is not disrupted.

An MVP from ~15,000 EUR, a full system from ~30,000 EUR. In the long run the cost is lower than SAP EWM or Manhattan WMS licences. Training and documentation in Latvian are included.

Yes, the system runs as a Progressive Web App on any Android/iOS phone with a camera, or on a professional Zebra/Honeywell scanner. We recommend inexpensive rugged Android scanners (~200 EUR each).

Yes, WMS implementation meets the criteria of the LIAA digitalisation grant. We help prepare the application, and the support can cover up to 50% of the project cost, including hardware.

Yes, we can integrate with Horizon, Zalktis, SAP Business One, Microsoft Dynamics 365 and other systems via API or at the database level.

Yes, a WMS can be synchronised with Shopify, WooCommerce and Magento, and with Omniva, DPD, Venipak and Latvijas Pasts. An order from the online shop automatically appears in the warehouse for picking, and the shipping label is printed with one click. A full system with e-commerce and courier integrations costs from ~30,000 EUR.

Yes, data migration is part of the WMS rollout stage: social.tech migrates the data, integrates the WMS with your existing systems and trains the team. social.tech imports your existing Excel spreadsheets, so nothing has to be entered again. The rollout is gradual, starting with one zone or process, so that warehouse work is not disrupted.

The WMS data remains yours, and any data set can be exported. social.tech hands over the source code, and a transfer of copyright can be provided for in the contract. You can choose hosting in Latvia, in the European Union or on your own server, so the system is not tied to one supplier. The code is yours, with no vendor lock-in.
